Many years ago as I was foraging for acorns, I found a large round nut roughly the size of a walnut. I couldn't believe my good fortune and I picked it up. As I was about to sink my teeth into the shell, I heard a voice whisper, "Do not eat me. Keep me safely hidden and I will give you immortality and the wisdom of the ages." Needless to say, I was stunned. I knew the nut hadn't talked to me - couldn't have talked to me! Nevertheless I took it to my nest high in the oak tree and tucked it under some leaves, and when my nerves settled I left my home to resume acorn-gathering. Winter was fast approaching and I needed more food.

That evening as I was preparing for bed I remembered the nut and dug it out of the leaves to get a closer look. It looked like an ordinary shagbark hickory nut (we squirrels are experts in nut identification), but there were no such trees in the vicinity. I began to wonder if I'd just imagined the strange, whispering voice when suddenly, a large brown eye opened on the shell! Startled, I exclaimed, "What are you!?" The whisper came again, "Do not be alarmed; I will not harm you." The voice whispered to me through the night and as the sun rose I understood that my life would never be the same, nor would it ever end. I had been magically transformed by an ancient spirit of the forest; one who would allow me to see and understand the Mysteries of the Universe!

The Omiscient Nut still haunts me to this day and I am grateful for its companionship and wisdom. Now I share my great gift with others in the hope that they will find peace and enlightenment!
